Alabama Library Expo did not seek a funding increase for the 2006-07 school year due to the significant increase in both the Library Enhancement and technology funding contained in the 2005-2006 SDE budget and the increase in funding for Alabama Virtual Library.

Due to the increases in funds available under the SDE program for the 2006-07 school year and projected increases in available funds for the foreseeable future, Alabama Library Expo will recommend an increase in library funding for the 2007-08 school year commensurate with the increase in overall education expenditures from 2005 to 2007.  Alabama Library Expo's Board will determine the amount of funding increase that will be recommended during the summer of 2006.  The Alabama Library Expo recommendation will be submitted to the SDE and key legislators prior to August 1, 2006.
